Bücher für Modellbahnsammler bei Blurb |

Book-on-Demand bzw. Print-on-Demand ist ein seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre angewandtes Publikationsverfahren von Druckerzeugnissen, bei der Bücher (theoretisch) erst bei erfolgter Bestellung gedruckt werden. Eines der bekanntesten Unternehmen, die dieses Verfahren anbieten, ist Blurb. Autoren können ihre Bücher über Blurb ohne zwischengeschalteten Verlag produzieren und vertreiben. Durch eine Vertriebskooperation mit Amazon können die Bücher (im Prinzip) weltweit angeboten werden.
Dies nutzen zunehmend Verfasser aus dem Bereich der Sammlerliteratur. Leider lassen sich diese Bücher im Blurb Buchshop relativ schlecht finden. Werbung wird dafür nicht gemacht. Meist findet man nur in den einschlägigen Sammlerzeitschriften einen Hinweis auf diese Titel. Oder man sucht auf der Blurb Webseite, die eine freie Suche (z.B. nach Autor/Titel) oder das Blättern in Kategorien anbietet. Für die freie Suche muss natürlich ein passendes Wort bekannt sein (z.B. Tischbahn <> Tischeisenbahn).
Leider existiert keine passende Kategorie zum Thema Modellbahn. Zum Suchen muss man sich durch verschiedene Kategorien wie Freizeit und Hobby, oder Geschichte klicken, wobei immer nur 20 Titel pro Seite angezeigt werden (20 von evtl. mehreren Tausend). Zwar ist eine Verschlagwortung (=> Tags) der Titel durch die Autoren möglich, zum Finden muss dann allerdings das passende Schlagwort bekannt sein. Schlagwörter können von den Autoren völlig frei vergeben werden.
Sehr gut ist die Vorschau-Funktion, um sich einen Eindruck vom Inhalt des Buches zu machen. Die Bücher sind meist in verschiedenen Bindungen, Cover-Varianten, evtl. unterschiedlichen Größen und teilweise auch als EBook/PDF erhältlich.
Einige Bücher werden nur über die Autoren, andere nur über Amazon vertrieben, sind also über den Blurb Buchshop nicht zu ermitteln.

Das Sammelgebiet der Tinplate 00 und H0 Eisenbahnen umfaßt ein relativ großes teilweise noch unbekanntes Spektrum. Neben den großen Marken wie Märklin, Trix und Fleischmann gab es aber fast zu jeder Zeit noch andere Marken die ebenfalls Blecheisenbahnen in Spur 00 und H0 hergestellt haben. Angefangen bei der Firma Bing, welche die erste wirkliche Systembahn in Spur 00 bereits lange vor Märklin entwickelt und erfolgreich vertrieben hat, bis zu den Kaufhauseisenbahnen deutscher (meist Nürnberger) Hersteller, die teilweise bis in die 70er Jahre des 20sten Jahrhunderts Blech Spielzeugbahnen hergestellt haben.
Das größte Problem ist bei vielen dieser Bahnen die Zuordnung zu den Herstellern, da einige Hersteller ihre Produkte nur teilweise bzw gar nicht gemarkt haben. Um eine Zuordnung aufgrund spezifischer Details wie Kupplungen, Räder, Drehgestelle zu erleichtern bzw. zu ermöglichen, wurde dieses Buch erstellt.

Eine detailierte Studie zu Modellen nach Vorbildern aus Kanada aus der Tinplate Epoche. Aus Deutschland ist insbesondere Bing vertreten.
In Bezug auf die Firma Distler leider mit einem bösen Patzer: Distler wird auf Ost- und Westdeutschland aufgeteilt.
Die Abbildungen sind leider durchgehend von schlechter Qualität. Viele sind zu dunkel und in sehr schlechter Auflösung. Wenn Bilder aus Internet Quellen wiedergegeben werden, dann kann dies zuweilen vorkommen. Aber auch Bildzitate aus Büchern (z.B. S. 138 aus Fuller, The Bassett-Lowke Story) sind völlig verwaschen und zugelaufen.
